Context Team Mission

The following objectives are designed to meet the mission of the context team in creating educational reform within school settings.

  • Engage university faculty (Arts, Sciences, and Education) with PreK-12 teachers in the simultaneous renewal and re-vision of teacher education and PreK-12 curricula through redesign of clinical experiences.
  • Utilize the study of school context variables that support student achievement, teacher development, and the quality of clinical experiences.
  • Establish classroom settings that enable students in challenging schools to reach high levels of achievement relative to state and national standards.
  • Emphasize technology to improve the quality of clinical experiences and to support inquiry as an instructional approach.
  • Enhance of the role of PreK-12 teachers as mentors in the preparation of future education professionals.
  • Examine and test new models of clinical experiences from introductory levels through the induction year.
